Sport is back and it is wonderful to be back on the court and the ice with you. Note that decisions on bursary applications will be made shortly.
With that in mind, we’d like to share some great news!
We are excited to report we received a generous donation to our Bursary program from one of our athletes (who wishes to remain anonymous). The board would like to thank you for your generosity and kindness in helping make sport possible for other Cruisers members this year.
Call For Volunteers
We need Coaches for our Para Ice Hockey Program. You would be put onto an existing team, and have a mentor to help guide you along in your coaching career. Cruisers would cover costs associated with training courses, and there is an honorarium as a token of appreciation at the end of the season. This is a great opportunity if you have a friend or family member on any specific team. Contact Ken Hall (paraicehockey@cruisers-sports.com) for more information!
Cruisers Sports is excited to announce that the 2021 Cruisers Cup Para Ice Hockey Tournament is returning this year! The tournament will be held at the Susan Fennell Sportsplex (500 Ray Lawson Boulevard, Brampton) on November 5th - 7th, 2021. If you are interested in volunteering for the tournament, please click here to sign up: https://forms.gle/JVEqcURPBA2BbHWK8. The registration link will close on October 30th - THIS SATURDAY at 5:00pm - and volunteer shifts will be confirmed via email on Monday, November 1st.
Please note, in accordance with Ontario Sledge Hockey Association protocols, City of Brampton facility protocols, and the Ontario Government regulations, all volunteers 12 years and older must show proof of full vaccination (2 doses + 14 days since second dose) in order to attend the Cruisers Cup this year. We've also had to modify volunteer numbers and roles to align with facility protocols - descriptions of volunteer roles needed for the tournament can be found on the sign-up form. All volunteers will receive the most recent COVID-19 protocols for the facility with their volunteer shift email. Please contact Lisa Myers with any questions: paraathletics@cruisers-sports.com.

Vaccine Reminders
Just a reminder, in keeping with the recent Government of Ontario orders and mandates from our Provincial and National governing sport bodies, all Cruisers members (athletes, coaches, officials, staff and volunteers - including parents) who are 12 and older must provide proof of full vaccination in order to participate or attend in-person Cruisers Sports programming and activities.
Further details regarding implementation of this policy, exemption qualifications, providing proof of vaccination, etc. will be available this month as we update our Return to Sport protocols to align with these recent government orders.
Cruisers Sports Selected as Canadian Tire Jumpstart Grant Recipients
Cruisers Sports is proud to share that we have once again been selected by Canadian Tire's Jumpstart program to receive grants from their Sport Relief Funding. The Jumpstart fund helps community sport organizations like ours, continue to provide access to sport and play for Canadian youth. This year Cruisers has been awarded an operations grant, as well as a programming grant.
The operations grant will allow Cruisers to participate in a number of upcoming shows building awareness of our sport programs with others in the community. Already we've hosted a booth at Access Expo that took place in September at Variety Village and received a great response.
The Jumpstart Programming grant will support our Para Ice Hockey program this year, with funding being used towards rental fees as well as new equipment.
We are grateful to Canadian Tire's Jumpstart program. These grants will go a long way towards helping Cruisers build awareness of our programs and support our Para Ice Hockey athletes.
We encourage everyone to come out and cheer on their fellow clubmates at the Cruisers Cup. Capacity limits have been removed and it would be great to see you there!
And remember, when you go trick-or-treating, look both ways before crossing the street, and don’t forget - Skotty really loves Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Happy Hallowe’en!
Cruisers Sports is excited to announce an amazing partnership we've established with Sheridan College to provide a weekly strength and conditioning program exclusively to our athletes. We will be holding a Zoom Town Hall on Friday, October 29th at 7:00pm to provide an overview of the program, give you a tour of what the in-person facility looks like, as well as answer any questions you may have about the program. Link to the Town Hall can be found here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82941851222?pwd=OEdUUkRsS1Z1VE5nNUpUbXZqSnN5QT09
