Well, it’s that time of year, the air conditioning gets turned on, and our Fall/Winter programming wraps up. There are still some Cruisers to cheer on though, as our Athletics program is ramping up, and some Tokyo hopefuls are practicing hard! While things were different this year, some things stay the same. Our coaches go into hibernation until the fall, so they can rest up and get ready for next year. Except Ken. He never sleeps.
We want to give a huge thanks to all the weekly zoom call participants, and a shout out to the coaches for keeping it going.
While our virtual weekly programming is almost complete, we have been busy planning some great Social Saturdays to keep you engaged. We think you will love what we have planned. Of course we are open to your ideas too!
To kick it all off, we’ve got a great one coming up next weekend – it’s SALT DOUGH NIGHT!
Join Cruisers Sports for our first Social Saturday of the summer, where we will be making Salt Dough Impressions! Make some memories with a paw or handprint impression, an ornament, or another special dough creation.
All ages are welcome to join us for this free and fun evening of creating, socializing, and learning more about Cruisers sports.
Bring your ingredients, your imagination, and get ready for an enjoyable evening!

Alex was a long-time coach with the Cruisers – and still a current Cruisers Super Fan and supporter! This incredible $3000 scholarship award goes a long way to help with education related expenses.

It might be at the halfway mark, but don’t forget about free things!!!
Beginning May 1, and for a period of eight weeks, Canadian kids will be encouraged to find a way to race a 400-metre distance as fast as they can at their local track or measured out on the road, sidewalk, or a green space in their neighbourhood. Siblings and/or parents can record their times and video content and upload them to www.racewithme.ca, an interactive website showcasing leaderboards along with fun and inspiring content and prizing. There is even a leader board for athletes who are para ambulatory and those who use a wheelchair. Social media will amplify the virtual challenge results as participants share their results and fun over the next two months.
Just want to remind everyone about FlipGive. It’s a great way to give back to the Cruisers, while doing what you already do well (spending money). To date, the club has raised over $1800!!! I bought Swiss Chalet for my mom for Mother’s Day, and before I did, I bought a gift card on FlipGive, earning the club $7. It’s that easy. Why not check it out for Father’s Day?
Join our team now and you’ll get a $5 bonus the first time you shop: https://flipgive.app.link/teams/join?fundraiser_name=Skotty&joincode=T5S4YQ

Our friends at Groundglass Casting are currently casting a commercial for the Canadian Paralympic Committee and we are seeking kids (6-12 years old) and adults (18-22) who use a wheelchair. I know you work with people with disabilities, so I was hoping you could share this with your network in case anyone was interested in applying.
This is a paid commercial for those selected; $350 per day of filming. The filming would happen over one or two days.
All of the details and application form can be found here: https://paralympiccommittee.castingcrane.com/
We have come across some great time-sensitive opportunities, and want to share them if you want to participate!
This year's edition of the Paralympian Search is going virtual – with a twist! The Canadian Paralympic Committee’s “CONNECTION 2021” program is tailored specifically to women with disabilities who are interested in Para sport. With an all-star female cast of Paralympians, national team athletes, speakers, and hosts ready to engage with female participants, the event aims to ignite the passion for Para sport.
CONNECTION 2021 is open to women ages 16 and older who have a disability, with or without previous sport experience and who are excited to get involved in Para sport. We are also welcoming current or former athletes from all levels aiming to explore a new Paralympic sport or discover a new sport that can complement their main discipline.
The event will be held entirely on Zoom and will consist of two half-day sessions on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6 (starting at 12:30PM EDT and ending at 5PM EDT on both days). Further schedule details will be made available later, but the event will include information sessions, interactive workshops, active breaks, panel discussions and much more!
Interested women can submit their expression of interest by May 15, 2021. The maximum number of participants selected will be 25 and participants must be based in Canada.
