December 21, 2021: Your December Update

Hello Cruisers Family!

We have almost come to the end of another year. One that has definitely had its challenges but one that also saw our return to the field, track, courts and ice. You all performed incredibly here at home and on the world stage, whether that resulted in a new personal best, the mastery of a new skill, or just a great memory of a fun day, they are all moments to be proud of.

We are looking forward to 2022 and all the new memories we can make together and so we wish you all a very happy and healthy holiday filled with too much food, drink, friends and family!

Thank you for being a part of our Cruisers family, Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Jumpstart Community Development Grant for Boccia

Huge news for our Boccia program – we have received a Canadian Tire Jumpstart grant! It will help offset facility and equipment costs associated with our exciting, revamped Boccia program.

Thanks to Tiffany for helping grow this program, and with this grant it will grow even more!

City of Mississauga 2021 Community Grant Supports Our Expanding Para Athletics Program

Earlier this year, Cruisers Sports Para Athletics Program was awarded a Community Grant from the City of Mississauga. The city's investment in the program has made a big impact and allowed the program to be accessible for so many.

The grant has allowed us to afford the cost of an indoor facility, and help keep the registration fees for our new and returning athletes reasonable. The indoor facility has also allowed us to extend the training season, allowing athletes to practice longer and further develop their skills. This generous grant also provided for the purchase of a stationary roller for new athletes that we welcomed to the program this year. Rollers are very expensive, and without the grant it would have been very challenging for new athletes to join.

On behalf of the Cruisers Association, and all of the athletes in the Para Athletics program we extend a big thank you to the City of Mississauga!

Another Para Athletics Donation

Our Para Athletics Program was also the lucky beneficiary of a very generous donation of throwing equipment!

The anonymous donor supplied both indoor and outdoor shots, discus and javelin training items that were immediately put to good use!

Thank you so much for this gift, what a great way to give back to the club!!

Joe needs to go! (in a nice way)

Joe Dobson has been our treasurer for a couple years now, and has done a fantastic job. But Joe has decided it’s time to pass the torch along. The Board is starting the process of looking for a new treasurer. Joe is more than willing to help show somebody the ropes so they are not overwhelmed. If you’re interested in learning more about the role, reach out to us, and we will give you more information!

Once again, on behalf of the Board of Directors, we wish everyone a happy, safe, and enjoyable holiday season! We are looking forward to 2022 and all the new adventures and great memories waiting to be made with our Cruisers friends and family.
