Fees and PSOs: ...:::... Back to top

All members of the Cruisers Sports club pay a $50.00 membership fee to join.
If you are playing one competitive sport then the cost is $300 plus the membership fee = $350.00.
If you are playing one non-competitive sport then the cost is $50.00 plus the membership fee = $100.00.
If you are playing one competitive sport and any other additional sport whether it be competitive or non-competitive then the cost would be $300.00 plus additional sport fee of $50.00 plus the membership fee = $400.00.

For example, plays sledge competitive - $300.00 and then plays competitive wheelchair basketball $50.00 and recreational field $50.00 and the membership fee $50.00 so your total cost is $450.00 for 3 sports plus 1x gala ticket, your PSO yearly membership fee (see below) and some tournament fees if applicable.

Membership fees cover items such as 1x gala ticket, PSO membership fee, some tournament fees, Christmas luncheon.

Competitive sports are: Sledge Hockey, Wheelchair Basketball, Track and Field, Boccia. You can also play these sports as non-competitive. Multi-Sport is considered non-competitive.

Do you know what PSO means and why it is important to you?

In order to play any sport you must be a member in good standing with your PSO (Provincial Sports Organization).
There are different types of PSO's depending on your disability. For instance, if you have an acquired brain injury or Cerebral Palsy your PSO would be OCPSA (Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association).
If you had spinal cord injury your PSO would be OWSA (Ontario Wheelchair Sports Organization).
If you were an amputee your PSO would be Les Autres and if you were Blind your PSO would be OBSA (Ontario Blind Sports Association).

So how does this work?
Cruisers Sports pays your fees to your sports organization. Each year the PSO's notify us of the membership renewal. We send you an email advising you to download any form they have on their PSO Website and you fill in and mail to your PSO.
Once this is done you are to notify the Director or Registration who will track this and get your monies to your PSO.

If you are not a member of your PSO, you are not eligible to enter any competitions. And if you do and you are not entered and you break any records it would not count!
So you can see how important to keep yourself in good standing with your PSO.
If you have questions or concerns, you can contact the Director of Registration or ask your coach!

Catchment Area ...:::... Back to top

Effective September 2009, Cruisers Sports for the Physically Disabled has defined our residential boundaries to provide guidance for potential Cruisers athletes. These boundaries may change as the leagues we participate in continue to grow.

Boundaries:
Sledge Hockey:
Halton & Peel Regions
Track & Field: Halton & Peel Regions
Wheelchair Basketball: Peel Region
Boccia: Halton & Peel Regions
Multi-sport Program: Halton & Peel Regions

Any athlete wishing to compete for the Cruisers from outside our region must fill out an application form. The Cruisers support all teams in the leagues we participate in and we encourage athletes from outside our residential boundaries to first contact a suitable club within their region.

The application is available for download on our Downloads page.

Board of Directors ...:::... Back to top

Annually at the AGM, the Cruisers membership elects new member's to it's Board of Directors for two-year terms, with the directors elected each year offset. Eligibility on voting, and who can hold a board position is determined by the By-Laws.

For information on our current Board of Directors, as well as their roles, please see our Board of Directors page.
